Mission

When kids came into our family last year it dawn on me that I was not only responsible for teaching these kids their ABC's and 123's, but also about life, love, and the world they live in.  We talked as a family and decided one thing that was important to us was teaching them to love everyone, no matter their skin color, race or religion.  We are a mixed race family, our kids our half American half Ecuadorian and it important to us that they embrace both their heritages and learn that different cultures are unique and beautiful.  One culture is not better than another, just different and we should learn to appreciate and respect them for these differences.

With this ideal in mind we made it a goal to learn about every country in the world and their accompanying cultures.  This may seem like a big undertaking, but it is something we planned to do over several years, something to incorporate into our routines and a way to take every opportunity to participate in events and activities that highlight different cultures.  We plan to bring the kids along every step of the way so they are immersed from the beginning with other cultures.

We have created this blog to record our families experiences with exploring different cultures represented in and around the Salt Lake City area.  It is a way to share with others our own experiences and also uncover some of the hidden cultures in the area.  My wife and I will both be contributing to this blog with pictures, stories and information.  Our hope is to not only teach our children, but also ourselves about this beautiful world we live in and the people that inhabit it.
